NTA or The National Testing Agency is the one that conducts the UGC NET examination every year. This examination is held twice in a year, and due to this reason, the competition among the students is high. The Phase I exam was held on November 20, 21, 22, 24, 25, 26, 29, and 30 and on December 1, 3, 4, and 5. However, the Phase II examination has been rescheduled due to cyclone Jawad.
Although the examination was initially planned to be held in October, NTA postponed it since the UGC NET exam dates clashed with other examination dates.
Exam schedule
The phase I examination is over. Now, the students have to prepare for the phase II examination. For downloading the admit cards, the candidates must check the website portal. To download the admit card, you have to put your log in credentials such as the application number, date of birth, etc.

Admit card downloading process
It is important to understand that you must qualify for all the eligibility test before you can apply for the post of assistant professor and JRF or junior research fellowship in various prestigious colleges and universities throughout India. Besides, you have to appear for both papers if you want to become an assistant professor and JRF.
UGC NET admit card contains all the necessary information like roll number, application number, examination venue, exam timings, centre code, and other essential instructions. It is essential to keep in mind that you won’t be allowed in the examination hall without the admit card.
UGC NET examination pattern
UGC NET examination is completely computer based and is done online. This examination contains two papers, and you won’t get any breaks between both the papers. While paper I consist of fifty questions, each question is 100 marks. The entire paper is of one hour. However, the paper II contains 100 questions, which are asked for 200 marks. Overall, you will get 2 hours for completing the entire paper.
How you can download the admit card?
The procedure is there that you should follow when downloading the UGC NET admit card. You can follow this step for downloading the hall ticket. Here is the process of downloading the admit card.
- You have to visit the official website of NTA UGC NET
- After that, you have to download the UGC NET admit card from the link present at the bottom of the page
- Open the login page displayed on the screen
- Make sure to enter the login details
- Your UGC NET admit card will be displayed on the computer screen
- Finally, you have to take a print out of the UGC NET admit card
How many times the exam is conducted?
Since 2018, significant changes have been made in the examination pattern. Since July 2018, the UGC NET has been held twice in a year. On top of that, the age cut-off have been reduced to 28 years for the post of Junior Research Fellowship. The examination duration changed from five and half hours to three hours. As per the new examination pattern, students have to appear for two papers. Paper I contains objective questions, which they have to finish within an hour. The paper II contains 100 hundred questions, which has to be finished within two hours.
Therefore, the UGC NET exam date has been shifted to the last week of December for the phase II exam. Coming to the examination pattern, UGC NET is held twice in a year since the competition is quite high.
