Interesting Facts About Vincent Van Gogh

Facts About Van Gogh

Vincent Van Gogh was a genius, and his works have endured for over a century. Some of his works are sold for thousands of dollars, while others are quite inexpensive. Some are priceless that nobody would sell, and many are in museums of course. TBH – the man was a very humble and incredible genius.

A series of six paintings was created during his short period of stay in a mental asylum. He had painted these paintings during his teenage years, and many were later passed down from one of his relatives. The next five years were spent in the asylum, which meant that this set of paintings was in a room with the same painting on the wall. Like Edgar Allan Poe and JD Salinger, Van Gogh was a troubled soul that battled mental illnesses and other things such as substance abuse.

Because of Van Gogh’s limited education, it is not known what he did during those twenty-two years. Some of his paintings may be autobiographical; others are purely abstract. It’s quite common for thieves to target Van Gogh’s brilliant work, and one even bragged about the heist to the NY Times. As recently as March of 2020, another heist of a Van Gogh took place in Denmark from a Dutch museum.

Of the ten paintings that were recovered from the asylum, seven of them are now housed in museums. However, only two of these paintings are in their original condition.

In the late eighteen hundreds, a man named Tobias Berthold wrote an article in a magazine in Berne, Switzerland titled, “The Influence of the Abstract Expressionist Movement Upon the Art World.” In this article, Berthold stated that the paintings created by the movement were too “crowded” to be displayed in a gallery.

Several paintings by Vincent Van Gogh were found by a dealer in the East Village. The dealer, who also happened to be Vincent Van Gogh’s nephew, bought these paintings from the uncle, and had them shipped to New York. These two paintings were eventually sold for four hundred thousand dollars.

When asked about how much was Van Gogh’s paintings worth, historians estimate that a medium oil painting, signed by Van Gogh, sells for between ten and twenty-five thousand dollars. A painting that contain only one original work of art, but the other paintings are similar, would be worth between thirty and forty thousand dollars. We know that today art dealers could move these for millions or large amounts of money and Bitcoin if they were for sale.

Other artists, including Pollock, Van Gogh, Monet, and De Kooning, made similar paintings, but when all of their paintings were sold together, it was noted that the prices of these paintings were far higher than the prices of the original paintings. For example, Monet’s “Workers of the World Unite” sold for nine million dollars. Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol works fetched vast sums as well over the years. High dollars and scarce art = OTP for sure.

It has been estimated that Van Gogh’s paintings will sell for more than two hundred million dollars in the twenty-first century. Some of the paintings will likely never see the light of day, while others will probably end up in a museum somewhere.

Experts have estimated that if the art world has its way, the price of Van Gogh’s paintings will be much higher when the paintings reach the twenty-first century. The main reason is because the art world believes that this painting is one of the greatest masterpieces of all time. Another reason is that the paintings will most likely have multiple owners before being put on display.

In order to determine how much are paintings worth, it is important to know some of the history behind Van Gogh’s paintings. There are certain techniques that have been used by experts to determine how much Van Gogh’s paintings are worth.

Expert appraisers like Tom Stuart Burnham, Warren Stewart, and Will Dennis have been able to determine some of the value of paintings like Lady Annie and The Potato Eaters. They have even been successful in determining the value of paintings that were rarely owned or not discovered until after Van Gogh’s death.

Vincent Van Gogh, one of the greatest painters in history, suffered from mental illness and alcoholism for many years before he died. While some people interpret his addiction to alcohol as caused by his trauma from World War I, it was more likely caused by some other personal problem, most likely bipolar disorder or another type of mental illness.

Depression was not unusual in the circles Van Gogh traveled in and it played a role in his art as well. His troubled marriage to Alma had led to his abandonment by his father, who became increasingly desperate for an outlet for his son’s intense feelings of anger, fear, loneliness, and sadness. Vincent van Gogh himself explained his emotional distance from his parents by noting that he grew up so much later than his mother and brother that he had never been interested in socializing with them. Some descriptions are NSFW and can incite HIFW emotions for sure.

Dr. Harry Markowitz, a great mental health expert and psychiatrist in New York City, said that a small percentage of all Americans suffer from bipolar disorder. It is a disease of childhood, in which a person exhibits alternating episodes of mania and depression, along with violent or suicidal impulses. The patient usually displays no other signs of emotion, which is why this disease is hard to diagnose, even by the psychiatrist. Some of the diagnostic criteria for this disorder are agitation, acting in a way that seems agitated, insomnia, aggression, irritability, mood swings, and trouble sleeping.

Depression and bipolar disorder are closely related disorders, which explains how did van gogh die. He suffered from this disease and at the same time also suffered from mental illness such as alcohol abuse and drug abuse. The fact that his paintings had little life in them and that he rarely used color allowed him to avoid detection from both his professional peers and those outside the art world.

It was easier for him to hide his mental illness from those who were close to him and thought they could help him. If it were not for them, he would have been admitted to a mental hospital. It is likely that when he was at a mental institution he was committed to the hospital under the mistaken belief that he was crazy and that the hospital staff should not help him because he was incompetent.

Drug abuse was a major problem at this time, since he often spent large amounts of money on alcohol, especially hard liquor. He spent time in and out of jail, mainly for stealing from his patrons in Amsterdam.

It is quite possible that the depression and mental illness were the result of alcoholism or drug abuse, but probably not both. Alcoholism is caused by the depletion of serotonin in the brain, which is a chemical in the brain that regulates mood. Serotonin deficiency leads to irritability, fatigue, insomnia, depression, anxiety, and the inability to think clearly.

The depression was likely caused by the side effects of alcohol and probably the cocaine, which he occasionally used when he was in jail. In some cases of severe depression, the medication prescribed is Valium. Since the side effects are so harsh, this medication may have been the cause of his death.
