Brooklyn Bridge
The Brooklyn Bridge is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable buildings in the world. Its modern structure is as well established as it’s historic structures. It’s sturdiness and excellent construction is a testament to the engineering skills of those who built it in the first place. However, many of the people who visit the Brooklyn Bridge for the first time don’t necessarily know much about its history.
Well, this has become an easy task with so many historical accounts available online. In fact, if you visit the Brooklyn Bridge website, you’ll find some great online tours available that give you the full history of the Bridge. However, one of the questions that most people ask is the height of the Bridge and how long to construct the Bridge.
One of the best things about today’s construction of bridges is that they are incredibly quick, often under a day in some cases. Although the Brooklyn Bridge doesn’t fall into this category, there are quite a few ways to answer the question. It is important to understand that there were many decisions that needed to be made when the Bridge was being constructed.
For instance, the overall design of the Bridge was always a difficult decision. Many in the crowd wanted to have a small bridge, and to place the main traffic lanes and accommodations to park on the Brooklyn side. Yet, many of the stores were located in Manhattan, and the largest one on the Bridge was in Brooklyn.
So, in order to keep both of these issues addressed, the Engineers devised a plan that would work. Of course, no matter what their initial thoughts were, it didn’t stop some from raising questions about the actual building of the Bridge. But, it is well known that it took the Bridge Company ten years to build the Bridge.
As you may know, Broadway is one of the major routes in Manhattan. Hence, the Broadway name was chosen for the Bridge, and not Broadway Avenue. Therefore, the Brooklyn Bridge has two lanes which must be crossed at all times, as well as an elevated roadway. The Brooklyn Bridge is a very small bridge.
This fact is particularly important for the height of the Bridge, which does not cross Manhattan and instead must go over the East River. Although, it does make the Bridge higher than many of the bridges in other parts of the world. However, it also makes it very interesting to be at the Bridge, because the Bridge Company kept it small.
Although the Brooklyn Bridge is probably the best known of its kind, it is just one of many. There are several bridges in different parts of the world that the public will appreciate. The importance of the Bridge lies in its location, and the fact that it is such a beautiful structure.
