The Cleveland Browns were originally not an NFL team. They actually started out as a member of the All American Football Conference (AAFC), which they dominated by winning the championship every single year out of the four years that it existed.
Although they haven’t been having much victory in recent years, The Cleveland Browns are actually the most successful franchise from Cleveland and have won more championships than all other teams from Cleveland combined! They have won a total of eight championships – four NFL and four AAFC titles. They have more winning history than the basketball and baseball teams in Cleveland. Not exactly a title town like Boston, but it’s a start.
It wasn’t until 1994 that the NFL adopted the two-point conversion. Early in that season, the Cleveland Browns scored the first ever two-point conversion in the history of NFL.
In 1982, the team played only nine NFL games because of the strike shortened season. With an overall record of 4-5, they got into playoffs as wildcard team.
Art Modell was the owner of the Cleveland Browns from 1961 to 1995. He moved the franchise from Cleveland to Baltimore, and even though he was the last team owner to win a championship, the fan base still holds a lot of hostility towards him.
