3 Interesting Facts About Cloud Services

The cutting-edge technology has made it possible for any organization to save millions of dollars in operational costs. Invariably, cloud services have become inevitable. Cloud services refer to a range of services delivered on-demand to businesses and customers through the internet.

They are designed to provide affordable and convenient access to resources, applications, and data without much internal or hardware infrastructure. In short, companies can now access word-class storage, services, and application without having to shell out much. But what is it that every person must know about cloud services? Here are three interesting facts about cloud systems that are swoon-worthy.

  1. Cloud Services Are For Everyone

If you think that cloud services are only meant for big companies and complex structures, you might want to think again. Cloud services are every business’ paradise. There is something for everyone, for instance:

Software as a Service (SaaS)

It is the most widely used cloud service. It broadly encompasses a myriad of services, including file storage, backup, project management tools, and web-based email.

A few examples of SaaS cloud service providers are G Suite, Microsoft Office 365, and Dropbox. Users can easily store, access, use and share data in ‘the cloud’ of these applications.

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)

While cloud service providers are required to manage SaaS tools, but they do not want to maintain them. That is where IaaS comes into the picture. It provides the infrastructure and serves as a complete data center framework to not spend resources on on-site installations.

A few examples of IaaS are Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS). An AWS managed service provider can help your business maintain networking hardware and all storage servers. They can also offer a host of other services to integrate and safeguard your valuable data.

Platform as a Service (PaaS)

It is a web-based system where developers can build cloud apps. PaaS service offers operating systems, databases, and programming languages to develop cloud-based software. Here, the users do not have to maintain any underlying elements.

  1. You Can Choose Where To Save

Does the idea of saving your sensitive information on the public cloud scare you? Then, first things first, the cloud environment is safe, especially if you follow safe cloud practices. And furthermore, if you wish to enjoy extra privacy, you can leverage cloud services and choose your company’s best fit, i.e., public cloud, private cloud, or a mix of both.

Public cloud services – are made available to numerous customers, and the most significant advantage of using them is the ease of sharing information at scale. Therefore, all employees are armed with more capabilities to access data round the clock.

Private cloud services – where the provider does not make services generally available to corporate users. Here, apps and data are exclusively made available through an internal infrastructure. Hence, the platform and software serve one company alone, and no external users or stakeholders can access it. Companies that deploy highly sensitive data like healthcare and banking industries use private clouds to leverage security protocols.

Hybrid Cloud Environment – where a private cloud solution is with public cloud services is an example of a hybrid system. This arrangement is often beneficial to companies that store sensitive data in private cloud, but employees can access resources and apps in the public cloud. Usually, an IT management console enables the communication between the clouds using proprietary software.

  1. Clouds Services Are a Way to the Future

The cloud environment will continue to expand as businesses can scale and rapidly automate. The pandemic has led more businesses to spin up to the new environment and changing instances. Having a platform, infrastructure, or software only frees up the company’s resources to serve clients, add efficiency to operations, and permit more time to improve and expand development operations.

With an unexpected increase in remote working trends, organizations are now looking to secure web gateways. A cloud-based solution, SASE (secure access service edge), will continue to adapt and be used by organizations.

Many sectors have collided with the limitation of their remote VPN concentrators. Even after managing such breakpoints, some are struggling with issues of bandwidth, external devices connecting to corporate hardware. Endpoint security is always a concern for organizations dealing with distributed employee base.

Hence it is the need of the hour for businesses to converge and integrate a cloud-based approach to a remote workforce and decentralized security technology.

Conclusion

Gone are the days when cloud services were only thought to be a tool for organizations dealing with massive data matrix. There is much more to cloud services than you can fathom. Imagine how easy it is to access all your information on your phone. Cloud services are gradually are now as easy to fit despite the size of the organization. If you still think that it is a cost, probably you are not counting right.

Key Points

  • The global era demands organizations to safeguard their valuable data and at the same time use it efficiently. Cloud services are perfect solutions to strike security and usability balances.
  • Corporates must access their systems and strategies to choose services that sync with their future goals.
